While obvious, the title Emergence comes from the final track on this album - Emergence by Andrew York. However, this title has taken on another meaning, my artistic Emergence. These pieces create an emerging image of the artist that I have become over the first decade of my post-collegiate/professional life. From my personal transcription of Bach’s 1st Cello Suite to the evocative and memorable melodies of Tedesco’s Capriccio Diabolico to the underlying Rock and Contemporary musical sensibilities of the title track Emergence, this album presents who I am as a musician and the influences I bring to my interpretations. Working on this repertoire helped me solidify my own musical voice and I’m pleased to have captured it on a recording to share with you all.
I’d like to dedicate this album to my grandmother Marion Friedman. Throughout my career she was a strong support and helped make this album become a reality. While she is unable to see the final product of the album, I know she would have enjoyed it.
I’d like to thank my parents Ilene and Joe Cutroneo for their continued support. Thanks to Richard Provost for his guidance over the years. Special thanks to Holly and Maddy Cutroneo for their support and inspiration to release this album. Finally, I’d like to thank everyone who preordered the album on Indiegogo and helped to fund the independent release of this album.
